FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a session involve?
Ryan photographs his subjects with an intention of empathy, vulnerability, and connection, so that you may meet as equals. His photo shoots are self-love sessions, as everyone walks away feeling good about themselves (even before seeing the photos!). Ryan creates photographs by connecting with people on a personal level so that they feel comfortable and natural in front of a camera. For many people who have never been photographed before this can seem daunting. Rest assured that Ryan is a professional and his ability to put people at ease is what makes him good at what he does. You'll be guided through the process every step of the way. We trust you to put your trust in us.

What do you shoot?
Anything involving people. Ryan often creates for individuals, entrepreneurs, artists, sex workers, and businesses of all types. No request is too large or small. We are here to meet your needs and create what you truly desire.

Where can we shoot?
Ryan's home studio is available for those wishing to shoot against a backdrop. Alternatively, Ryan can come to your home, a space that you access to, or out into the big wide world for outdoor sessions. There is also the option of renting a larger photography studio for concepts that require the scale.

What do I wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable and yourself in! It depends on the application of the photos. Ryan has a flair for aesthetics and fashion, it would be his pleasure to assist you if you require it. I have a good eye for colour and dress sense.

Can I bring a friend?
You're most welcome! However, we have found that people are able to relax the easiest when there are fewer people present. Ryan's demeanour and style of communication allow him to create an authentic connection between himself and the subject so that they feel at ease. We have found that by having friends sit in on the session, it makes the subject more self-conscious as there are multiple people viewing them. It matters more for some than others.

Do I have to pay up front?
There is a $200 retainer fee to book a session. This is required along with a signed digital contract to lock in the session date. Payment plans are available. Just ask!

How long do I have to wait for the images after the session?
The proofing gallery to make your selections will be supplied to you within 7 days of the session. We value fast delivery and I'm sure you do too! The remainder of the total fee must be paid prior to receiving the proofing gallery. Once you have picked your images to be edited and supplied, I will provide you with the final images within 7 days of your selection.

Do you do retouching?
Ryan's philosophy of photography is based on authenticity. He photographs people in a way that reveals the beauty of your true self. It is our mission to make a positive change in the world by accurately representing people are they really are. However, if you require retouching we have the skill and are happy to meet your needs.

Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we are able to provide you with beautifully presented gift vouchers which can be sent digitally via email or posted in the mail.

What if I need to change the appointment time?
You are welcome to reschedule the session appointment, up to 48 hours prior to the session. A phone call to let us know and a written confirmation via email is necessary.

What happens if it's raining?
If the weather does not permit us to make the photographs required on the day, we will reschedule in good faith to the nearest available date that suits us both.
